IIDA New England’s Post Fashion Show Exhibit at the Innovation and Design Building has been featured on the blog of Design New England, one of the area’s premiere publications for design professionals. Written by Gail Ravgiala, editor at Design New England and a former fashion show judge! Since winning big at the Fashion Show last October with “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice” awards, Bergmeyer was ecstatic to design the exhibit too.
From the feature by Gail: Hands down, the most fun event on the New England design industry roster is the annual fashion show produced by the regional chapter of International Interior Design Association (IIDA). For the uninitiated, this is haute couture turned on its head. Teams of designers are given a theme — for 2014’s October show it was “ADAPTAT1ON” — and then tasked with creating outfits made entirely from building materials. Picture an evening gown made of roof shingles, or tails and a top hat composed of carpeting and upholstery tacks, then envision them on models (design team members) parading down the runway in shoes cobbled from, say, mosaic tiles to the cheers (and jeers) of a room full of supporters and detractors from competing design firms. It’s one crazy entertaining evening.

Also note that the 20x20xDesign event will be held on Wednesday, February 25 starting at 6:00 PM. Come hear how the designers turned building materials into fashion in a Pecha-Kucha style presentation followed by a reception. RSVP for 20x20xDesign on Eventbrite and check back here for any updates.
