What motivated you to become a designer (or current role?)?
Likely, a familiar story to some others… My neighbor was an architect who would share blueprints of his work. I would pour over those drawings endlessly. Would redraw them. Re-envision them. To the point that my parents eventually bought me a drafting table at age 10. There was no question from there on that I would explore design and architecture. Somehow I managed to make a career of it. Something I feel quite fortunate for.
When you are retired and look back on your life, what is the biggest accomplishment you hope to achieve?
Raising sane and successful kids.
What does successful workplace culture mean to you?
Interaction, collaboration, sharing of ideas and POV’s. Truly working together. Not being in a bubble. The events of the world have proved one thing, there is no substitute for getting in a room together, rolling up your sleeves and creating; together.
If you had to pick one word that best represents Bergmeyer's culture, what would it be, and why?
Boundless. With no other place have I experienced empowerment at this level. Where we encourage each and everyone to be the individual they want to be.
What would you be doing if you were not working in this industry?
Photo-journalist. I would love to capture and comment on world events through the lens of a camera. It’s a very noble endeavor.
Do you have a talent (outside of being your talented self at Bergmeyer) that you are proud of?
Somewhat related to the above, photography is an alternate creative outlet for me. I enjoy capturing the world around me through my view finder and have great satisfaction when others appreciate that perspective.
What’s your spirit animal?
Fox. Because they’re so damn cool.
What’s inside your favorite cocktail?
Negroni. Instantly transports me to Rome!
What would you be doing if you weren’t here?
Photojournalist. To see and capture the world around us visually is a captivating notion.
Nas or Jay-Z?
Who? Kidding. Neither. Public Enemy.
Who inspires you?
My wife. And yes, I know that's cheesy but it's true.
What’s the best live music show you've seen?
The Clash at Kent State 1982. Yes, I’m old.
What have you backed on a crowdfunding site?
Co-producer of an album by artist Matt Pond
