We collaborated with Edenbridge Health on its new PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) Center, continuing our partnership to facilitate the development of more PACE healthcare models for communities across the U.S. The PACE model offers an alternative to nursing home care for many eligible older people. The amenities and services of Edenbridge PACE at Skyland Town Center go above and beyond traditional programs designed to support the needs of the elderly community – especially the need to create positive experiences for both participant and provider.
Ushering renewed life into a community in the heart of Washington, D.C., Edenbridge PACE at Skyland Town Center brings a high standard of care to a neighborhood in need. The Skyland Center, located within a new community development, was a first-generation tenant fit-out within a mixed-use building. Edenbridge Skyland was developed with consideration and acknowledgment of the existing local history, culture, and architecture. Our team's scope included design, architecture, FF&amp;E, and the creation of the brand standards for the new location. 
Our objective was to design a participant and provider experience that would deliver healthcare services enveloped by the comforts of home. Design selections were chosen explicitly with the needs of participants with cognitive impairments in mind while also prioritizing the ability to create an environment that would provide a sense of familiarity to patients. A hospitable approach was considered at every step of the Skyland PACE center's design, including: 
<ul><li>Entry handrails were illuminated as a guiding path for entrance into the building.</li>
 <li>Mechanical design considerations, such as temperature zones, allow for adjustments to make patients more comfortable.</li>
 <li>Doors are 42" wide versus the standard 36" door width for easier mobility and transitions for patients and workers.</li>
 <li>Materials selections throughout the center are durable for longevity, resistant to accidents, and easy to clean yet add elements of warmth and comfort. </li>
 <li>The center's layout creates comfort in the entry sequence and spatial relationships for participants; while allowing for multiple paths for providers to access participant, clinic, and administrative spaces.</li>
</ul>When designing a PACE center, it's essential to consider every step of the patient journey, both small and large. Edenbridge PACE at Skyland Town Center thoughtfully provides a comforting experience tailored to its community of elderly patients and care providers.
