What are you reading?

You mean right now? Well, Mick Herron’s “Slough House” series (at night), Terry Pratchett’s Discworld or Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin audiobooks (in the car), Ada Limon’s “The Hurting Kind,” more recently Anthony Doerr’s “Cloud Cuckoo Land.”

What is a work-related book you'd recommend?

I think work-related is all relative, so I’d say either “The Collected Poems of Mary Oliver,” John O’Donohue’s “To Bless The Space Between Us,” or “Isamu Noguchi and Modern Japanese Ceramics: A Close Embrace of the Earth.”

Dogs or cats?

Cats, of course; they are more independent (sort of), less needy (sometimes), generally friendly (depends on who it is)…oh, never mind. Wait – they’re less carbon-intensive than dogs, right?

What’s inside your favorite cocktail?

Bombay Sapphire, a ghostly whiff of vermouth, 3 olives, in a very cold glass. But only a few times a year.

If you had millions to donate, which cause would you choose to share it with?

I’d split the gift between the Good Shepherd Hospice House, WGBH, Partners in Health, The Long Now Foundation, and NASA.

What's your favorite season?

Definitely fall. Or maybe spring? Summer is pretty nice, too. Although you can’t beat a really beautiful snowstorm. Sorry, what was the question again?
