What motivated you to become a designer (or current role?)?

I have always been a creative problem solver and when considering career options, I really loved the concept of using that skill to create built environments that enhance human behavior. Nothing makes me happier than a functionally designed space!

What does successful workplace culture mean to you?

To me, a successful workplace culture is one where designers are both pushed to grow, and supported along the way. I also appreciate a good sense of humor among my colleagues; enjoying the humans you are surrounded with every day is a big part of workplace happiness.

What would you be doing if you were not working in this industry?

In another life, I would be in the fashion industry. I love trying new design trends, putting together the perfect outfit and helping friends plan for big events. My childhood drawing books are filled with house designs for my stuffed animals as well as endless (questionable) fashion designs of spaghetti strap tank tops and funky denim skirts!

How do you take your coffee?

Hi, I’m Kate and I am a Starbucks addict. I am the kind of person that needs coffee in order to turn into a human each day. I take my coffee unsweetened with a heavy splash of half & half.

What do you listen to while working toward a deadline?

Recently my go-to is my “funk” playlist on Spotify. There is a range from Wet and Cautious Clay to Khalid and Drake, so it always pumps me up to accomplish my work.

What’s the most important part of your morning routine?

Getting in a work out to clear my mind for the day and get my endorphins going!

Introvert or extrovert?

I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% ambivert. According to google, ambiverts are equally comfortable in leadership and supporting roles, and tend to adapt to fill voids in their teams. You would have to ask my colleagues if they agree with this!

Beer or wine?

Why choose? A glass of Italian red wine is tough to beat, but nothing goes better with a Patriots win than an ice cold Boston beer.

Fleet Foxes at the Hollywood Bowl – what a venue!

What’s your favorite life hack?

My grandma always teases that there is an 11^th commandment; “Thou shalt not take thyself too seriously.”
