What motivated you to become a designer (or current role?)?
When I was in Middle school 7th or 8th grade my dad was drawing plans for our new house, he wasn’t trained as an Architect but knew enough to get the job done. One night I asked him If I could draw something for the house and he gave me some exterior elevations to draw. I was hooked, from middle school right through high school I was taking every drawing class I could, I knew that I wanted to become and Architect.
What does successful workplace culture mean to you?
It’s the place everyone wants to be, it’s a place that is fun to be, for me it’s an extension of Family, it’s a place where we care about each other and the things that are going on in life. It's sincere and genuine, and it’s a place where we get to design and build really cool stuff together. We give selflessly of ourselves to mentor and learn, be with one another, to get the job done or just have fun. It’s a home away from home.
What would you be doing if you were not working in this industry?
If I wasn’t an Architect I think I would have been a Cabinet Maker, it is something I love to do, I think building stuff goes hand in hand with Architecture, I love working with the tools and seeing something being born out of just pieces of wood.
Where have you gotten lost on purpose?
Florence. It was amazing to wander around the streets in and out of the nooks and crannies. We saw some amazing parts of the city that you just don’t see from a tour bus.
What would you be doing if you weren’t here?
I would still be working in my Dad's cabinet making business.
