Bergmeyer’s President, Mike Davis, FAIA, has been recently appointed to a three-year term on the Government Advocacy Committee of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architects. This AIA Board Committee is responsible for shaping the Institute’s public policies and statements and setting direction for the AIA’s lobbying and governmental relations initiatives.

Having led a new Advocacy task force for the AIA’s Committee on the Environment for just over a year, Mike has been able to capitalize on his understanding of the relationship between sustainable design and public policy. Over the past year, AIA COTE advocacy has supported effective initiatives to protect federal funding for EPA and DOE programs that are important to architects and has endorsed the AIA’s strong statements of opposition to the weakening of environmental and human health protections. “I believe that my appointment to this Board Committee indicates that sustainable and resilient design are becoming foundational to the AIA’s public policy work," said Mike. “I look forward to being able to contribute to the AIA at this very high level.”
